His occupation was Labourer when he enlisted at Camden in October 1915 and served in the 19th Battalion A.I.F. He departed Sydney on the 'Berrima' 12 December 1915 and arrived France via Egypt March 1916. Frederick's cousin Victor Gilchrist Nankiville (Gunner 10284) (b. 1894 Mittagong to Henry Nankiville and Mabel J F Stringer m. 1893 Mittagong) died of wounds 5 June 1917 received near Messines France. Private Frederick Oscar KELLOWAY was wounded in the field with a gunshot wound to the right thigh 14 November 1916 and died at Rouen France at 8.15pm 29 November 1916 age 23. |
